A couple of weeks ago, i received a video in Facebook on “The Last Lecture - Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”.
This is a very touching lecture by Professor (Dr) Randy Pausch who had pancreatic cancer and had 3 to 6 months of good health left. The inspiring man succumbed to his illness last Friday 25 Jul 08 at an age of 47. This gentleman has made such an impact on me and my life that i wanted to share with everyone about his lesson on How to Live Your Life and my life now had a new meaning. (Btw the way, the other gentleman is Richard Carlson, read about it here)
Professor Randy Paush’s lecture is nothing about Death. Instead, it is about LIFE and achieving your childhood dreams. Some of the things he touched on includes a valuable lesson that “If you are doing a bad job and nobody points it out, it means they have given up on you“. Another great one is “Brickwalls are there for a reason, they let us prove on badly we want things“. Having fun all the time is another good advice he has pointed out.
His lecture and book had inspired millions of people worldwide, including Elaine and myself, to live life to the fullest. This is also why i have chosen to take a step back to relax and spend time with my family & children after i was diagnosed with prediabetes. I am starting to live life to the fullest now and enjoying every minute of it. Have not regretted about foregoing the large pay cheque as i understand what is really important to me - my family. How about you?
A short clip of one of his lectures is as below:
My favourite quote from his lecture is “Experience is what you get if you don’t get what you want”
