Headline of the major newpaper reads loudly:

“Ren Ci Probe - 10 Charges against Ming Yi”

Some of the charges are:

- Defrauding the charity

- Helping to falsify accounts

- Forgery

- Giving false information

When i read these, my heart sank.  Venerable Ming Yi was the head of Ren Ci Hopsital whom Elaine and i respected so much.

When NKF saga happened where Durai was complicated with misusing the funds raised in the name of charity, we told ourselves nevermind, that’s NKF and Durai.  At least Ming Yi and Ren Ci will not do this kind of thing.  We have absolute trust in them and they will not let us down.

And now this terrible truth.  It’s like being betrayed…betrayed of our trust in good people.  Ming Yi, you gave Buddhism a bad name.  It also shows that “money is the root of all evil” is true.

With the 2 biggest charities in Singapore (NKF and Ren Ci) misusing donations and the many fake donation drives reported in the newspapers including the Sichuan Earthquake, we have totally lost faith in charities.

Who suffer in the end?  The very needy people (patients or casualities).  Ming Yi, if what is reported is true, you have deprived them of the funds they needed because many people will definitely be disillusioned by charities.  We, for one, will not be donating any more money.  Who can we trust?
